In Monday's non-league outing, the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars (Winchester, IL) basketball squad nipped the host Astoria/VIT Rebels (Astoria, IL), by a margin of 44-42.

The Cougars (14-12) will now prepare for their outing against Beardstown (Beardstown, IL). The Tigers enter the non-league match with a 12-17 record. In their last match, Beardstown was nipped by Hamilton (West Hancock, IL), 47-37, in a league match.

With the defeat, Astoria/VIT moves to 5-24 on the year. The Rebels travel to Bushnell-Prairie City (Bushnell, IL) to meet the Spartans in a Prairieland match on Tuesday, February 6. The Spartans enter the match with a record of 1-25. Bushnell-Prairie City won 51-23 in their recent non-league match against West Prairie (Sciota, IL)
