Detroit Eagles (Detroit, TX) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Excel Christian Academy Eagles (Powderly, TX), 49-46 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Detroit upgrades its record to 2-13 on the season. The Eagles travel to Harts Bluff (Mt. Pleasant, TX) to clash with the Bulldogs in a 2A Region II District 16 bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 13-14.

In their next game, the Eagles face the Christian Home Educators Knights (Sulphur Springs, TX) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, February 7. Excel Christian Academy will attempt to move on its 1-11 season record. The Knights enter the game with a 4-17 record after their 61-57 non-league loss to Trinity Christian Academy (Paris, TX).
