The Pierz Pioneers basketball team scored 52 points and restricted the visiting Aitkin Gobblers to 51 in the Pioneers league victory on Tuesday.

The Pioneers now sport a 6-12 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mora for a non-league contest on Thursday, February 8. Pierz will battle a Mustangs team coming off a 86-50 league win over Pine City (Pine City, MN). The Mustangs record now stands at 10-8.

The Gobblers (3-16) will now prepare for their contest against Staples-Motley (Staples, MN). The Cardinals come into the AA Section 7 contest with a 10-8 record. In their last contest, Staples-Motley edged Pillager (Pillager, MN), 65-54, in a league contest.
