Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Central Knights (Providence, RI), 69-55 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Smithfield upgrades its record to 5-6 on the season. The Sentinels travel to Barrington (Barrington, RI) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Friday, February 9. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 6-7. Barrington won 62-55 in their recent non-league bout against Woonsocket (Woonsocket, RI)

Next up, the Knights play the Cranston East Thunderbolts (Cranston, RI) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, February 7. Central will attempt to upgrade on its 7-5 season record. The Thunderbolts go into the bout with a 11-1 record after their 51-43 non-league win over North Kingstown (North Kingstown, RI).
