Salem Witches (Salem, MA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Masconomet Regional Chieftains (Boxford, MA), 48-42 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Salem upgrades its record to 1-2 on the campaign. The Witches host Beverly (Beverly, MA) to play the Panthers in a bout on Friday, February 9. The Panthers come into the bout with a record of 10-1. Beverly lost 49-48 in their recent league bout against Swampscott (Swampscott, MA)

Next up, the Chieftains play the Tewksbury Memorial Redmen (Tewksbury, MA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 10. Masconomet Regional will attempt to upgrade on its 1-2 season record.
