Newaygo Lions (Newaygo, MI) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Hart Pirates (Hart, MI), 59-48 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newaygo upgrades its record to 10-7 on the season. The Lions travel to Tri County Area (Howard City, MI) to clash with the Vikings in a Central State - Gold bout on Friday, February 9. The Vikings go into the bout with a record of 4-12. Tri County Area lost 83-60 in their recent league bout against Grant (Grant, MI)

Next up, the Pirates clash with the Ravenna Bulldogs (Ravenna, MI) in a Western Michigan Lakes - Rivers bout, on Tuesday, February 13. Hart will attempt to upgrade on its 9-9 season record.
