The Mingo Central Miners (Matewan, WV) basketball edged the visiting Lawrence County Bulldogs (Louisa, KY), 72-65 in Friday's non-league bout.
The Miners now possess a 4-11 record. They play next when they travel to Robert C. Byrd for a non-league bout on Monday, February 10. Mingo Central will play a Eagles team coming off a 47-42 league win over Buckhannon-Upshur (Buckhannon, WV). The Eagles record now stands at 10-3.
With the loss, Lawrence County falls to 16-7 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Betsy Layne (Betsy Layne, KY) to play the Bobcats in a District 58 bout on Saturday, February 8. The Bobcats go into the bout with a record of 11-8. Betsy Layne lost 79-61 in their recent non-league bout against Pikeville (Pikeville, KY)
