Southampton Academy Raiders (Courtland, VA) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Gateway Christian (Virginia Beach, VA), 54-39 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Southampton Academy upgrades its record to 9-14 on the season. The Raiders host Amelia Academy (Amelia Court House, VA) to play the Patriots in a VISAA Division IV bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Patriots go into the bout with a record of 4-12. Amelia Academy won 75-65 in their recent league bout against Kenston Forest (Blackstone, VA)

Next up, the play the Hampton Christian Academy Warriors (Hampton, VA) in a VISAA Division IV bout, on Friday, February 10. Gateway Christian will attempt to upgrade on its 2-19 season record. The Warriors go into the bout with a 16-10 record after their 88-22 league win over Broadwater Academy (Exmore, VA).
