Hackberry Mustangs (Hackberry, LA) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Grand Lake Hornets (Lake Charles, LA), 66-51 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Hackberry upgrades its record to 12-16 on the season. The Mustangs host Hornbeck (Hornbeck, LA) to clash with the Hornets in a non-league bout on Tuesday, February 14. The Hornets go into the bout with a record of 23-4.

Next up, the Hornets clash with the DeQuincy Tigers (DeQuincy, LA) in a 2A District 5 bout, on Friday, February 10. Grand Lake will attempt to upgrade on its 1-18 season record. The Tigers go into the bout with a 4-19 record after their 62-35 league loss to Lake Arthur (Lake Arthur, LA).
