Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Pana Panthers (Pana, IL) and the visiting Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL), saw Pana's basketball squad hold off Gillespie by a tally of 52-49.

With the victory, Pana improves its record to 8-20 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Newton (Newton, IL) to confront the Eagles in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 10. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 18-10. Newton won 56-39 in their recent league challenge against Richland County (Olney, IL)

Next up, the Miners confront the Staunton Bulldogs (Staunton, IL) in a South Central challenge, on Tuesday, February 13. Gillespie will attempt to improve on its 7-22 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 15-13 record after their 68-46 non-league win over Pawnee (Pawnee, IL).
