The Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) basketball nipped the visiting Grinnell Tigers (Grinnell, IA), 61-54 in Friday's non-league test.
The Mustangs (12-9) will now prepare for their test against Waverly-Shell Rock (Waverly, IA). The Go-Hawks go into the non-league test with a 17-4 record. In their last test, Waverly-Shell Rock was tipped by Pella (Pella, IA), 86-72, in a non-league test.
