Burns Bulldogs (Lawndale, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Kings Mountain Mountaineers (Kings Mountain, NC), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Bulldogs now own a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they host West Lincoln for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 3. Burns will battle a Rebels squad coming off a 8-1 non-league win over North Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC). The Rebels record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Kings Mountain falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Mountaineers travel to East Rutherford (Forest City, NC) to battle the Cavaliers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 7. The Cavaliers enter the challenge with a record of 2-0. East Rutherford won 7-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Independence (Charlotte, NC)
