Matanzas Pirates (Palm Coast, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting DeLand Bulldogs (DeLand, FL), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 1-0 record.

With the loss, DeLand falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Taylor (Pierson, FL) to battle the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 1. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Taylor won 6-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Umatilla (Umatilla, FL)
