Vardaman Rams (Vardaman, MS) backers went home content Saturday as they witnessed their baseball team hold off the visiting Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS), 6-5 in a non-league challenge.

The Rams now own a 3-2 record. They take the field next when they host West Union for a 1A Region 4 challenge on Tuesday, March 4. Vardaman will clash with a Eagles team coming off a 7-6 non-league loss to Pine Grove (Ripley, MS). The Eagles record now stands at 1-1.

With the defeat, Independence drops to 3-3 on the year. The Wildcats host Senatobia (Senatobia, MS) to clash with the Warriors in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 3. The Warriors go into the challenge with a record of 4-3. Senatobia won 6-5 in their recent non-league challenge against Cleveland Central (Cleveland, MS)
