South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Crest Chargers (Shelby, NC), 17-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now own a 4-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Eastern Alamance for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 14. South Caldwell will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 2-1 non-league win over Weddington (Matthews, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 2-3.

With the loss, Crest falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Chargers travel to Burns (Lawndale, NC) to battle the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 15. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 4-2. Burns lost 2-0 in their recent non-league challenge against R-S Central (Rutherfordton, NC)
