In Friday's non-league game, the host Corinth Holders Pirates baseball team scored a tight 8-2 victory over the Orange Panthers.
The Pirates (5-0) will now prepare for their game against Clayton (Clayton, NC). The Comets go into the Greater Neuse River 4A game with a 3-3 record. In their last game, Clayton was overwhelmed by Wake Forest (Wake Forest, NC), 11-1, in a non-league game.
The Panthers (2-2) will now prepare for their game against Western Alamance (Elon, NC). The Warriors go into the Central 3A game with a 3-2 record. In their last game, Western Alamance tipped Person (Roxboro, NC), 5-2, in a league game.
