In Friday's non-league game, the visiting Mount Airy Granite Bears baseball team scored a tight 2-1 victory over the West Wilkes Blackhawks.
The Granite Bears (4-2) will now prepare for their game against East Wilkes (Ronda, NC). The Cardinals go into the Northwest 1A game with a 3-3 record. In their last game, East Wilkes was edged by Watauga (Boone, NC), 15-2, in a non-league game.
