Wayne County War Eagles (Waynesboro, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Greene County Wildcats (Leakesville, MS), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

The War Eagles now own a 5-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gautier for a 5A Region 4 challenge on Friday, March 15. Wayne County will face a Gators squad coming off a 10-0 league loss to Vancleave (Vancleave, MS). The Gators record now stands at 1-3.

With the loss, Greene County falls to 3-6 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Poplarville (Poplarville, MS) to face the Hornets in a 4A Region 8 challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 3-6. Poplarville lost 12-7 in their recent non-league challenge against West Harrison (Gulfport, MS)
