Wakefield Wolverines (Raleigh, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Panther Creek Catamounts (Cary, NC), 4-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Wolverines now own a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they host Holly Springs for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 13. Wakefield will battle a Golden Hawks squad coming off a 9-4 league loss to Apex Friendship (Apex, NC). The Golden Hawks record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Panther Creek falls to 0-4 on the campaign. The Catamounts host Cary (Cary, NC) to battle the Imps in a Southwest Wake 4A challenge on Tuesday, March 12. The Imps enter the challenge with a record of 0-5. Cary lost 24-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Sanderson (Raleigh, NC)
