The Taylorsville Tartars baseball team scored 9 runs and held the host Newton County Cougars to 8 in the Tartars non-league win on Tuesday.
The Tartars now hold a 5-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to West Lauderdale for a non-league test on Thursday, March 13. Taylorsville will play a Knights team coming off a 4-2 non-league win over Germantown (Madison, MS). The Knights record now stands at 11-2.
With the defeat, Newton County drops to 6-7 on the year. The Cougars travel to Pisgah (Sandhill, MS) to play the Dragons in a non-league test on Friday, March 14. The Dragons go into the test with a record of 8-4. Pisgah lost 9-0 in their recent non-league test against Newton County (Decatur, MS)
