The Chester Yellowjackets softball team scored 16 runs and held the host Newton Eagles to 0 in the Yellowjackets non-league win on Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets now sport a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Colmesneil for a 2A Region III District 23 battle on Friday, March 14. Chester will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 15-0 non-league loss to Woden (Woden, TX). The Bulldogs record now stands at 2-7.

With the loss, Newton moves to 2-5 on the season. The Eagles travel to Diboll (Diboll, TX) to confront the Lumberjacks in a 3A Region III District 21 battle on Friday, March 14. The Lumberjacks come into the battle with a record of 6-5. Diboll won 7-5 in their recent non-league battle against Center (Center, TX)
