The Smithfield-Selma Spartans baseball team scored 23 runs and held the visiting Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs to 1 in the Spartans non-league win on Wednesday.

The Spartans now hold a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Hunt for a non-league test on Friday, March 14. Smithfield-Selma will play a Warriors team coming off a 5-2 non-league loss to C.B. Aycock (Pikeville, NC). The Warriors record now stands at 3-1.

With the defeat, Southeast Raleigh drops to 0-2 on the year. The Bulldogs travel to Cleveland (Clayton, NC) to play the Rams in a test on Friday, March 14. The Rams go into the test with a record of 2-2. Cleveland won 7-6 in their recent non-league test against Seaforth (Pittsboro, NC)
