Salem Spartans (Salem, VA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the host James River Knights (Buchanan, VA), 8-1 in a non-league test.

With the win, Salem upgrades its record to 1-0 on the season. The Spartans travel to Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA) to battle the Cavaliers in a non-league test on Thursday, March 23. The Cavaliers come into the test with a record of 0-0.

With the defeat, James River falls to 0-1 on the season. The Knights travel to Amherst County (Amherst, VA) to battle the Lancers in a non-league test on Friday, March 17. The Lancers come into the test with a record of 1-0. Amherst County won 4-2 in their recent non-league test against Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA)
