Watauga Pioneers (Boone, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad run past the host North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), 11-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Pioneers now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host South Caldwell for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 19.

With the loss, North Wilkes falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Vikings host East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC) to battle the Cardinals in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 15. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. East Surry lost 12-6 in their recent non-league challenge against East Wilkes (Ronda, NC)
