In Thursday's non-league match, the host Walnut Wildcats softball team scored a tight 7-5 victory over the Smithville Seminoles.
The Wildcats (4-3) will now prepare for their match against Alcorn Central (Glen, MS). The Bears go into the non-league match with a 6-6 record. In their last match, Alcorn Central tipped Baldwyn (Baldwyn, MS), 7-6, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Seminoles battle the Booneville Blue Devils (Booneville, MS) in a non-league match, on Thursday, March 13. Smithville will attempt to improve on its 3-4 season record. The Blue Devils enter the contest with a 4-1 record after their 3-0 league win over Alcorn Central (Glen, MS).
