Amarillo Sandies (Amarillo, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Liberty Patriots (Lubbock, TX), 20-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Sandies now own a 17-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Caprock for a 5A Region I District 3 challenge on Saturday, March 16.

With the loss, Liberty falls to 8-14 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Shallowater (Shallowater, TX) to face the Mustangs in a 3A Region I District 2 challenge on Saturday, March 16. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 8-5. Shallowater won 32-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Sudan (Sudan, TX)
