The East Carteret Mariners (Beaufort, NC) baseball trounced the visiting Goldsboro Cougars (Goldsboro, NC), 9-0 in Friday's non-league challenge.

The Mariners now own a 8-0 record. They take the field next when they host Jones for a Coastal Plains 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 18. East Carteret will clash with a Trojans team coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Bethel Christian Academy (Kinston, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 4-4.

With the defeat, Goldsboro drops to 0-7 on the year. The Cougars host Beddingfield (Wilson, NC) to clash with the Bruins in a Neuse Six 2A challenge on Tuesday, March 18. The Bruins go into the challenge with a record of 0-5. Beddingfield lost 16-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Martin County (Williamston, NC)
