Athens Academy Spartans (Athens, GA) boosters exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they witnessed their soccer team triumph over the host Oglethorpe County Patriots (Lexington, GA), 6-1 in a league test.

With the triumph, Athens Academy moves its record to 1-4 on the campaign. The Spartans host Elbert County (Elberton, GA) to meet the Blue Devils in a 1A D-I Area 8 test on Tuesday, March 18. The Blue Devils come into the test with a record of 3-5. Elbert County won 9-3 in their recent league test against Commerce (Commerce, GA)

The Patriots now sport a 2-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Jackson County for a non-league test on Tuesday, March 18. Oglethorpe County will meet a Panthers team coming off a 3-2 non-league win over Creekview (Canton, GA). The Panthers record now stands at 7-3.
