Benton Rangers (Benton, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes (Zeigler, IL), 16-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Rangers now own a 3-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Century for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 18. Benton will face a Centurions squad coming off a 4-0 non-league win over Carrier Mills-Stonefort (Carrier Mills, IL). The Centurions record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Zeigler-Royalton falls to 1-3 on the campaign. The Tornadoes host Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IL) to face the Rams in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 18. The Rams enter the challenge with a record of 1-0. Mt. Vernon won 3-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Hamilton County (McLeansboro, IL)
