The West Wilkes Blackhawks triumphed over the host Lake Norman Wildcats softball squad by a count of 7-1 in Monday's non-league challenge.
Next, the Blackhawks meet the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, March 19. West Wilkes will attempt to upgrade on its 6-2 season record. The Huskies enter the challenge with a 2-2 record after their 9-2 league loss to Alexander Central (Taylorsville, NC).
The Wildcats (5-2) will now prepare for their challenge against St. Stephens (Hickory, NC). The Indians enter the non-league challenge with a 2-5 record. In their last challenge, St. Stephens was routed by North Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC), 2-1, in a league challenge.
