El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Sonora Wildcats (Sonora, CA), 7-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Gauchos now sport a 7-4 record. They take the field next when they host Merced for a Central California Conference challenge on Tuesday, March 22. El Capitan will face a Bears squad coming off a 1-0 non-league loss to Sanger (Sanger, CA). The Bears record now stands at 5-5.

With the loss, Sonora falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Golden Valley (Merced, CA) to face the Cougars in a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 24. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 4-4.
