Spectators at Saturday's non-league match between the Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY) and the visiting Buckhorn Wildcats (Buckhorn, KY), witnessed Powell County's softball squad prevail over Buckhorn by a count of 17-2.

The Pirates now sport a 1-1 record. They play next when they travel to Estill County for a District 56 match on Monday, March 20. Powell County will face a Engineers squad coming off a 5-4 non-league loss to Mercer County (Harrodsburg, KY). The Engineers record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Buckhorn moves to 0-1 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Perry County Central (Hazard, KY) to face the Commodores in a District 54 match on Friday, March 24. The Commodores go into the match with a record of 4-0.
