Washington Hatchets (Washington, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Loogootee Lions (Loogootee, IN), 9-7 in a non-league challenge.

The Hatchets now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host South Spencer for a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 21. Washington will battle a Rebels squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IN). The Rebels record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Loogootee falls to 0-1 on the campaign. The Lions host North Daviess (Elnora, IN) to battle the Cougars in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 19. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 0-0.
