South Umpqua Lancers (Myrtle Creek, OR) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting North Bend Bulldogs (North Bend, OR), 9-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Lancers now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Hidden Valley for a non-league challenge on Monday, March 18. South Umpqua will battle a Mustangs squad coming off a 17-8 non-league win over North Valley (Grants Pass, OR). The Mustangs record now stands at 1-0.

With the loss, North Bend falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Taft (Lincoln City, OR) to battle the Tigers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 19. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. Taft lost 8-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Warrenton (Warrenton, OR)
