North Johnston Panthers (Kenly, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars (Pinetops, NC), 17-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Nash Central for a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 21. North Johnston will battle a Bulldogs squad coming off a 7-2 league win over Bunn (Bunn, NC). The Bulldogs record now stands at 6-2.

With the loss, SouthWest Edgecombe falls to 1-5 on the campaign. The Cougars host Greene Central (Snow Hill, NC) to battle the Rams in a Eastern Plains 2A challenge on Tuesday, March 19. The Rams enter the challenge with a record of 0-4. Greene Central lost 24-8 in their recent non-league challenge against Southside (Chocowinity, NC)
