In Tuesday's non-league match, the host Columbia Eagles softball team scored a tight 5-4 victory over the Jersey Panthers.
The Eagles (2-0) will now prepare for their match against Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL). The Eagles go into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, Civic Memorial was nipped by East Alton-Wood River (Wood River, IL), 8-2, in a non-league match.
In their next game, the Panthers battle the Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL) in a non-league match, on Thursday, March 20. Jersey will attempt to better on its 0-1 season record. The Piasa Birds go into the match with a 1-0 record after their 16-6 non-league win over Greenfield/Northwestern (Greenfield, IL).
