Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host East Gaston Warriors (Mt. Holly, NC), 12-9 in a league challenge.

The Golden Lions now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they host East Gaston for a Southern Piedmont 1A/2A challenge on Thursday, March 21. Shelby will face a Warriors squad coming off a 10-4 non-league win over North Gaston (Dallas, NC). The Warriors record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, East Gaston falls to 3-2 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to North Gaston (Dallas, NC) to face the Wildcats in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 20. The Wildcats enter the challenge with a record of 2-3. North Gaston won 15-0 in their recent league challenge against Ashbrook (Gastonia, NC)
