Lakeland Vikings (Deepwater, MO) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Midway Vikings (Cleveland, MO), 21-17 in a non-league challenge.

The Vikings now own a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Osceola for a Class 1 District 7 challenge on Friday, March 22.

With the loss, Midway falls to 0-3 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Concordia (Concordia, MO) to face the Fighting Orioles in a non-league challenge on Friday, March 22. The Fighting Orioles enter the challenge with a record of 3-2. Concordia lost 3-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Northwest (Hughesville, MO)
