Mantachie Mustangs (Mantachie, MS) fans exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Saltillo Tigers (Saltillo, MS), 5-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now sport a 7-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to West Union for a non-league challenge on Thursday, March 21. Mantachie will face a Eagles squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Corinth (Corinth, MS). The Eagles record now stands at 1-2.

With the loss, Saltillo falls to 3-5 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to South Panola (Batesville, MS) to face the Tigers in a 6A Region 1 challenge on Thursday, March 21. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 12-2. South Panola won 25-3 in their recent league challenge against Center Hill (Olive Branch, MS)
