California High School Volleyball - Menlo-Atherton Homestead

In Wednesday's non-league battle, the host Homestead Mustangs volleyball team scored a 3-1 triumph over the Menlo-Atherton Bears.
The Mustangs (1-0) will now prepare for their battle against Monta Vista (Cupertino, CA). The Matadors come into the SCVAL - De Anza battle with a 0-1 record. In their last battle, Monta Vista lost by Saint Francis (Mountain View, CA), 3-0, in a non-league battle.
Next, the Bears encounter the Gunn Titans (Palo Alto, CA) in a non-league battle, on Friday, March 4. Menlo-Atherton will attempt to advance on its 1-3 season record. The Titans come into the battle with a 1-1 record after their 3-2 non-league loss to Basis Independent Silicon Valley (San Jose, CA).
Match Summary
M-A Varsity Bears lost a tough 4-game match vs Homestead. Dominic Auer, a relative newcomer to the game, was also switched to the Libero position mid-match for the first time and he performed amazingly, passing a 1.74 while taking the bulk of the serve-receives and boasting a 54.5% point-scoring %. Dominic had 9 digs and only 1 dig error.
Will continues to be relied on by his teammates as one of the savviest players on the court. Will was the top passer (average 1.96 on serve receives) and took almost half of the offensive attacks.
Ted Smith, senior middle blocker, also had an amazing game with a .800 hitting efficiency with 4 kills on 5 attacks and no hitting errors. Smith was also responsible for 5 blocks as he was fiercely defending the net.
Alex Wright switched to outside hitter mid-match and also had 4 kills!
