Hutto Hippos (Hutto, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Austin Maroons (Austin, TX), 7-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Hippos now own a 12-9 record. They take the field next when they travel to Midway for a 6A Region II District 12 challenge on Tuesday, March 5. Hutto will clash with a Panthers team coming off a 8-4 league win over Copperas Cove (Copperas Cove, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 12-4.

In their next game, the Maroons clash with the Lockhart Lions (Lockhart, TX) in a non-league game, on Monday, March 4. Austin will attempt to improve on its 7-6 season record. The Lions come into the game with a 7-12 record after their 9-7 non-league loss to Elgin (Elgin, TX).
