The Monterey Plainsmen softball team scored 3 runs and limited the visiting Mansfield Tigers to 2 in the Plainsmen non-league triumph on Saturday.

With the triumph, Monterey improves its record to 7-4 on the year. The Plainsmen host Coronado (Lubbock, TX) to clash with the Mustangs in a 5A Region I District 4 game on Tuesday, March 5. The Mustangs come into the game with a record of 2-7. Coronado lost 12-5 in their recent non-league game against Birdville (North Richland Hills, TX)

In their next game, the Tigers clash with the Azle Hornets (Azle, TX) in a non-league game, on Saturday, March 2. Mansfield will attempt to better on its 2-12 season record. The Hornets go into the battle with a 5-5 record after their 3-1 non-league win over Odessa (Odessa, TX).
