Spectators at Monday's non-league match between the Bruton Panthers (Williamsburg, VA) and the host Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA), witnessed Bruton's softball squad prevail over Surry County by a count of 12-2.

The Panthers now sport a 1-2 record. They play next when they host Lafayette for a Bay Rivers match on Wednesday, March 22. Bruton will meet a Rams squad coming off a 9-3 non-league loss to Mathews (Mathews, VA). The Rams record now stands at 0-3.

With the loss, Surry County moves to 1-2 on the season. The Cougars host Southampton (Courtland, VA) to meet the Indians in a Tri-Rivers match on Tuesday, March 21. The Indians go into the match with a record of 1-0. Southampton won 26-0 in their recent league match against Franklin (Franklin, VA)
