In Wednesday's non-league contest, the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) softball team overwhelmed the visiting North Surry Greyhounds (Mount Airy, NC), by a margin of 17-7.

With the triumph, Ashe County moves its record to 3-3 on the year. The Huskies travel to Hibriten (Lenoir, NC) to play the Panthers in a Northwestern 3A/4A contest on Monday, March 25. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 2-4. Hibriten lost 8-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Burns (Lawndale, NC)

With the loss, North Surry falls to 1-5 on the campaign. The Greyhounds host Surry Central (Dobson, NC) to battle the Golden Eagles in a Foothills 2A challenge on Thursday, March 21. The Golden Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 1-4. Surry Central won 21-4 in their recent league contest against Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, NC)
