Southside Sharks (Youngsville, LA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Kaplan Pirates (Kaplan, LA), 4-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Sharks now own a 13-7 record. They take the field next when they host Lafayette for a 5A District 3 challenge on Thursday, March 21. Southside will face a Lions squad coming off a 6-4 non-league loss to Loreauville (Loreauville, LA). The Lions record now stands at 11-7.

With the loss, Kaplan falls to 18-3 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Crowley (Crowley, LA) to face the Gent in a 3A District 5 challenge on Thursday, March 21. The Gent enter the challenge with a record of 5-9.
