Cobre Indians (Bayard, NM) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Bernalillo Spartans (Bernalillo, NM), 4-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Indians now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Los Lunas for a non-league challenge on Friday, March 22. Cobre will battle a Tigers squad coming off a 4-3 non-league win over Silver (Silver City, NM). The Tigers record now stands at 4-1.

With the loss, Bernalillo falls to 6-2 on the campaign. The Spartans host Pecos (Pecos, NM) to battle the Panthers in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 26. The Panthers enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Pecos lost 22-2 in their recent non-league challenge against McCurdy (Espanola, NM)
