Union Academy Cardinals (Monroe, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Providence Day Chargers (Charlotte, NC), 5-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 6-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Gray Stone Day for a Yadkin Valley 1A/2A challenge on Monday, March 25. Union Academy will battle a Knights squad coming off a 11-0 league loss to Union Academy (Monroe, NC). The Knights record now stands at 3-5.

With the loss, Providence Day falls to 2-2 on the campaign. The Chargers host Charlotte Country Day School (Charlotte, NC) to battle the Buccaneers in a NCISAA Charlotte challenge on Tuesday, March 26. The Buccaneers enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. Charlotte Country Day School lost 18-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Lee Park Prep (Monroe, NC)
