Porter Ridge Pirates (Indian Trail, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting West Cabarrus Wolverines (Concord, NC), 9-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Pirates now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they host Cuthbertson for a Southern Carolina 4A challenge on Friday, March 24. Porter Ridge will battle a Cavaliers squad coming off a 10-3 league loss to Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Cavaliers record now stands at 5-5.

With the loss, West Cabarrus falls to 2-8 on the campaign. The Wolverines host Hickory Ridge (Harrisburg, NC) to battle the Ragin' Bulls in a Greater Metro 4A challenge on Tuesday, March 28. The Ragin' Bulls come into the game with a record of 8-1.
