Spectators at Friday's non-league match between the Shamokin Area Indians (Coal Township, PA) and the visiting North Schuylkill Spartans (Ashland, PA), witnessed Shamokin Area's softball squad tip North Schuylkill by a count of 12-7.

The Indians now sport a 1-0 record. They play next when they travel to Shikellamy for a non-league match on Tuesday, March 26.

With the loss, North Schuylkill moves to 0-1 on the season. The Spartans host Pottsville (Pottsville, PA) to face the Crimson Tide in a Schuylkill I match on Thursday, March 28. The Crimson Tide go into the match with a record of 2-0. Pottsville won 11-1 in their recent league match against Tamaqua (Tamaqua, PA)
