Gilbert Tigers (Gilbert, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Gila Ridge Hawks (Yuma, AZ), 7-4 in a non-league challenge.

The Tigers now own a 5-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Highland for a 6A Central challenge on Tuesday, March 28. Gilbert will battle a Hawks squad coming off a 6-5 non-league loss to Hamilton (Chandler, AZ). The Hawks record now stands at 4-4.

With the loss, Gila Ridge falls to 6-13 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Dobson (Mesa, AZ) to battle the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 27. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 7-4. Dobson lost 8-7 in their recent non-league challenge against West Point (Avondale, AZ)
